As the storm heads towards Turks and Caicos Islands, the team makes final preparations.

Once again thanks go to Olga Taylor, museum staff, Ian Fuller, the local community who have helped the team get prepared.

12.30am: Team puts up final shutters and bunkers down at the Turks and Caicos National Museum Laboratory building in Grand Turk.

At this point the hurricane is predicted to be 140mph Category 4 hurricane with a storm surge of up to 15ft. Because the museum’s science building is new and well-built, we feel very safe.

Dr Donald Keith and Dr Toni Carrell waste no time in trying to sort out the GPS System whilst the electricity is still on!
